  • Service without a monitor – is it possible to use the ReelBox without a monitor to play and record via the MP3 function?

Yes, the OCD menu is also found on the ReelBox display.

  • Can I upgrade the ReelBox without invalidating my guarantee?

Yes, ReelBox hardware upgrades are comprised of standard PC components, and can be installed by you or a suitable supplier.

  • Is the ReelBox compatible with a TFT screen?

Yes, this is possible as long as you have HDMI, VGA or CVBS -/-S- Video connections on the TFT screen.

  • Can I connect a keyboard and mouse to the ReelBox?

Yes, there are four USB 2.0 connections, as well PS/2 connections which can be used with a keyboard and mouse.

  • Which CI modules are compatible with the ReelBox?

Alphacrypt, Irdeto, Viaccess, Cryptoworks, Conax as well as other DVB Standard CI modules are all compatible with the ReelBox.

  • Can Premiere films be received with ReelBox?

Yes, through the use of an Alphacrypt module ReelBox gives you access to Premiere films.

  • Can Cable TV be received with ReelBox?

Cable TV can be received through the use of a Smartcard, a Conditional Access module for Pay TV, and the relevant DVB-C Tuner.

  • Which tuners can be used with ReelBox?

DVB-S, DVB-C, DVB-T, and DVB-S2 can be installed in combination and run simultaneously. The DVB-C is designed to cater for Cable TV channels. In order to access Pay TV only one CI module and the usual subscription card are required. Detailed information regarding the required CI module and subscription card is available through your Cable provider.

  • Can ReelBox record encoded Pay TV channels?

Yes, the ReelBox can record encoded Pay TV channels in conjuction with the relevant Smartcard and Conditional Access Module.

  • Is it possible to access TV, Satellite, and Cable provision simultaneously?

Yes, simply exchange one of the supplied DVB tuners with a DVB-T or DVB-C tuner.


If you currently use a ReelBox Lite C series or a Reelbox Lite T series simply exchange one tuner for a DVB-C or DVB-T tuner in order to access any Cable provider. In order to access Pay TV only one CI module and the usual subscription card are required. Detailed information regarding the required CI module and subscription card is available through your Cable provider.

  • Does the ReelBox come with integrated Child Security applications?

Yes, you can secure channels, programmes and recordings with a pin code '6969'.

  • Is it possible to configure the EPG data stream?

Yes, ReelBox not only provides the EPG description for each individual channel, but also the on screen Magazine information common to most of the channels, providing a quick and easy overview. Simply press a button to record your favourite programmes including EPG information, channel title, and VPS if required.

  • Some channels come with DD 5.1 sound quality. Is it possible to record programmes including DD5.1 sound quality?

Yes, the ReelBox records all programmes in the same format that they are received, including sound.

  • Can the ReelBox be programmed to record automatically whilst on standby?

Of course! Simply configure your video recorder via the EPG for example, to record your programme. At the end of the programme the ReelBox will return to standby mode.

  • Can I record in NFS format instead of to the Hard Disk?

Yes, it is possible to freely record using SMB, CIFS or NHS functionality if no Hard Disk is available.

  • Are there restrictions when recording or amending audio or video data?

Recording is only limited by the size of the Hard Disk!

  • Can DVDs be played in a variety of DVD players?

Yes, DVDs can by played through three player formats; Archive DVD (which can only be played using ReelBox), DVD without menu information, and DVD with menu information..

  • Can one burn DVDs using DD 5.1 sound quality?

Yes, the ReelBox records programmes to the Hard Disk in the same format that they are received, including sound. These can then be burned on to DVD with the sound quality of your choice from the prescribed menu.

  • Can ReelBox receive programmes via the built in WLAN?

Yes, ReelBox can receive programmes via LAN or WLAN if you wish. In addition, ReelBox can stream programmes to any computer sharing the same WLAN card.

  • Can the ReelBox by used in conjunction with Windows?

Yes, the comprehensive incorporated Samba Server makes it easy to run the ReelBox through windows.

  • Can the ReelBox be controlled and programmed via the Internet/LAN?

Yes, the user friendly software included with the Remote Control Centre, provides easy access to ReelBox functionality.

  • Can the ReelBox also be used as a streaming client?

Yes, the ReelBox can act as a streaming client capturing information, and can also distribute data streams to other client defined PCs according to preference.

  • Is additional software required to run client streaming through the ReelBox?
