We are on company holidays from 24th of December to 13th of January.
During our annual closing there is no public access to our office, phones are not occupied and eMails won't be answered. The Reel Multimedia support forum
will stay online, we precautionary apologise for possible delays concerning

ReelBox Avantgarde on schedule
The Avantgarde is on it's final approach - first units are being prepared for delivery within the next few days.
As previously announced these presentation samples will not arrive at specialised dealers showrooms until middle of October 2007.
Potential buyers can contact Reel Multimedia UK in order to find out where to view the next generation mediacenter.

ReelBox Vista delayed
Contrary to previous plans a non standard graphics adapter will be used for ReelBox Vista's video output. In cooperation with our mainboard partner, German Kontron AG, Reel Multimedia is proud to announce the development of a tailor-made graphics adapter for ReelBox Vista. This step was necessary as existing standard graphics adapters would not meet our high requirements.
The new OEM card will provide at least equal decoding performance at a lower power consumption and therefore an ultra-silent cooling solution for optimal living room usability.

Press Release - Reel Multimedia at the IFA 2007 - Hall 4.2, Booth 230/19
Reel Multimedia contributes to this year's IFA by presenting the successors of the legendary ReelBox Lite series. Both new media centers, the ReelBox Avantgarde and the ReelBox Vista, will hit the market soon after IFA.
ReelBox Avantgarde
The first Linux-based media center introduces up to six independent tuners.
Powered by Reel Multimedia's NetCeiver technology the Avantgarde is capable of receiving up to six channels from six different tansponders simultaneously. NetCeiver is an innovative new concept - DVB data is no longer transported via PCI or USB, but uses the professional IP protocol.

Additionally the ReelBox Avantgarde is equipped with all modern interfaces:
HDMI, three tuner slots (useable for DVB-S2, -S, -C, -T), two Gbit Ethernet ports, eSATA, Mini-PCI-Express, two Common Interface slots, one PCI slot, USB 2.0 and FireWire should satisfy all the needs of multimedia enthusiasts. A 320GB hard disk drive and the DVD writer ensure, that there's always enough space for user data and TV recordings.
The ReelBox Avantgarde will be available in black and silver. Two tuners are included, their DVB standard is at buyer's option. Gross price for the ReelBox Avantgarde will be €1.499.
ReelBox Vista
Microsoft Windows Vista is the new standard in matters of modern Operating Systems. The integrated media center unites almost all different types of media content. The vast support for audio and video formats includes copyright-protected material (DRM). The hardware platform guarantees a perfect media experience: An Intel Core2Duo mobile processor, a DirectX10 graphics adapter and 2GB of RAM stand for enormous power at a low rate of energy consumption. Whether it's HDTV, high res material from the hard drive or even HD-DVD and BluRay - the ReelBox Vista is the ultimate HD player and recording station with added value. By using an additional 3rd party TV software, ReelBox Vista can be used with tuners for all types of DVB (DVB-S2, -S, -C and -T).
Many preinstalled services such as HomeShopping, Video-on-demand or online Music stores enrich customers's media enjoyment. And of course the vast world of Windows Vista compatible applications is at customer's hands.
Games, Office software or applications for audio and video editing can be installed easily - ReelBox Vista knows no limits or boundaries.

In the news section of the November 2006 issue of HeimKino magazine the ReelBox is set to be highly rated. This is supported by the fact that in comparison with Elanvision and Topfield, Heimkino magazine considered the ReelBox unit to be the best in its class, scoring between good and very good in all categories. Experience recordings on your PC with the ReelBox ReelFilter
With the brand new ReelFilter you can now watch recordings through practically all current windows compatible media players. The installation package includes a DirectShow Filter as well as the powerful Media player Classic. On installation you can automatically connect the ReelBox to the network with the start up directory being saved directly to the PC network drive. Recordings are available via the Media player Classic Favourites menu – without copying or data conversion being necessary. Of course you can always play your recordings through your preferred player if you wish. Because of DirectShow compatibility the ReelFilter allows recordings to be played back through virtually any media player. ReelBox Series – ReelBox user instructions become available
An online instruction manual for the ReelBox Series is available to download from the website for the first time.
These have been brought up to date to reflect the current ReelBox specifications. All relevant functions come with comprehensive set up menus. All instructions and related themes will be presented in step by step format in the Handbook in the next few weeks. The Handbook is based upon ReelVDR version 1.2 which itself has only recently gone from development to being included in the Download screen listing. |

ReelBox Series - HDTV update
With HD functionality your ReelBox is now a HD media player and recorder thanks to the improved mini PCI card, which includes the latest generation multi media processor. You can now play standard or HD video material in all relevant formats directly from the hard disk. With definition of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p) ReelBox provides you with breathtaking viewing pleasure. Of course you can record unencrypted HDTV, as well as encrypted channels, as long as you have the appropriate CAM subscription.
With HD functionality incorporating an internet browser it is now possible to surf the web in absolute clarity whether via HDMI or YUV interfaces. With the ReelBox you are equipped for digital TV both now and in the future. You can watch HD programmes in MPEG-2 -HD and MPEG-4-HD (H.264/AVC) in definition of up to 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p). In order to use HDTV we provide a complete Live HD kit which is incorporated in to the HD function and streamed through the DVB-S2 tuner.

From 30th May to 1st June the Rheinmetropole becomes the centre of the multimedia world with the hosting of the Anga Cable 2006 trade fair.
We will happily demonstrate ReelBox software and will answer questions on the ReelBox series. We will also give you a preview of the future – namely HDTV. ReelBox now comes with DVB-S, DVB-C and DVB-T tuners
At last it is possible for households that have a cable TV connection in conjunction with a ReelBox with DVB-T tuner to experience digital TV.
Because the Reelbox can cater for all available DVB tuners it provides unparalleled flexibility and functionality. The attractive and user friendly on screen menu allows even the beginner an easy way in to the world of digital multimedia.
By entering the media centre reference details from your living room you can begin to experience digital media for yourself.
Both the ReelBox RCX and RTX come with two identical tuner cards as standard. In addition to an internal Hard Disk Drive there is a double layer DVD burner and 256MB of memory. It is then possible for example to record a film and watch the sports channel at the same time.
It is of course possible to configure tuners according to your preference. It is possible for example to combine a satellite tuner with a DVB-T tuner so that you can receive programmes via a variety of media.
Additionally, DVB-C tuners are compatible with all German cable networks. In order to access encrypted channels or Pay TV programmes all that is required is one Common Interface module in addition to the relevant subscription card. Information regarding the relevant CI module and subscription card is provided by your cable TV company. |

ReelBox – Tested by TobiTech
As one of the first on line magazines dedicated to hardware, the well known website Tobitech did a comprehensive test on the ReelBox Lite.
